HTD 900S is used to measure case depth and is capable of verifying depths ranging from 0.05mm (2 thou) up to a maximum of 1.5mm (60 thou). Our system utilizes a new and very advanced principle based on the continuous measurement of the electrical resistance in relation to the working load applied. Our meets the demands of the heat treatment industry. HTD 900s is equipped with a large anvil to enable the testing of large work pieces having overall dimensions up to 260mm (10.2") in height and 300mm (11.8") depth.

HTD 900S is also designed for hard-to-reach areas and testing under extreme conditions, yet requires very low maintenance. The diamond penetrator lasts up to 1500-2000 tests before re-coating, depending on the hardness of the test piece and maximum working load being used.

Technical Characteristics
  1. Direct reading of the Heat Treatment Depth Value on backlit liquid crystal display 107x57mm (4.2x2.3”). Depth measurable from 0.15mm (6 thou) up to 1.5mm (60 thou). If working with Optional Diamond it is possible to measure Depth from 0.05mm (2 thou) up to max 1.15mm (45 thou).

    The instrument will immediately reveal up to which depth a certain desired hardness value is achievable on the material tested with a precision ranging between 0.03mm (1.2 thou) and 0.05mm (2.0 thou) at 1.2mm (50 thou) depth, with a minimum case thickness ranging from 1.2 (47 thou) up to 1.5mm (60 thou).
  2. The Working Load is adjustable from 100 to 900 Kgf (980-8830 N), load versus resistance (depth of penetration is measured through the resistance over the semiconductor coated diamond) is continuously logged in order to obtain a precise heat treatment curve.
  3. Possibility to set max and min values. Useful when controlling big lots of material.
    Hardness pre-set value and statistics of the obtained values. Capacity up to 4700 values.
  4. Semiconductor diamond indenter covered with a thick coating in order to guarantee 1500 – 2000 tests. Once the coating is worn the coating process can be repeated many times.
  5. Stand structure suitable to carry out tests also on pieces of big dimensions as follows:

    - Max measurable depth up to 300mm (11.8”)
