Coefficient of friction testing is an important process for manufacturers of specific products, determining whether two surfaces of a product will be able to slide past one another when in contact. In these tests, both static and kinetic friction must be measured: ‘static friction’ refers to the force necessary to establish the sliding motion, and ‘kinetic friction’ refers to the level of resistance to this sliding motion.
Qualitest’s Friction/Peel Tester can be used to test both the static and kinetic friction of many products, including plastic films and sheets, foils, paper and cardboard, rubber, and textiles. Additionally, Qualitest’s Friction/Peel Tester can determine the strength and evenness of product adhesion by conducting peel strength tests, which can be implemented on samples of products such as adhesive laminate, medical adhesive bandages, release paper, protective films, and more.
Qualitest recently delivered a Friction/Peel Tester to a major beverage manufacturer in Colombia. With an automatic, high-precision control system to support tests at different temperatures, this Friction/Peel Tester will ensure that this company’s packaging is well-designed and made to the highest standards, conforming to multiple standards of ISO & ASTM.
