To examine the physical structure of rock specimens, petrographers must cut, grind, and polish samples. Qualitest’s Geo Line includes Geoform, Geofix, Geocut, and Forcipol 300-1V, all of which adhere to the highest safety standards to produce thin rock samples.
Recently, Qualitest delivered these machines to one of largest science and energy laboratories in the US. Here, petrographers will use the specialized Geo Line equipment to assist in the Department of Energy’s mission: scientific discovery, clean energy, and security. Each machine has unique characteristics that will ensure safe, efficient specimen preparation in the laboratory:
• Geoform is a thin-sectioning bench-top instrument capable of cutting and grinding down to 30 microns or less.
• Geofix is a fixture for mounting specimens to glass slides. Used for thin-sectioning, it provides uniform thickness of bonding material between specimens and slides.
• Geocut is an advanced cutter for minerals, rocks, and geological specimens with cutter capacity up to dia. 100mm. Its linear table feed cutting method provides a long travel depth, making it ideal for cutting long or deep samples in a single pass.
Forcipol 300-1V is a strong grinding and polishing instrument. With variable speed between 60-600 rpm, it ensures smooth grinding, lapping, and polishing.
