Compost Degradation Tester QualiCDT™ 180W
Compost Degradation Tester QualiCDT™ 180W utilizes the gravimetric method to measure carbon dioxide emissions. It uses small reactors in a professional capacity to ascertain the ultimate biodegradability of test materials. This device is well-suited for analyzing the biodegradability of degradable plastics and bio-based materials, including lunch box waste, agricultural film waste, plastics with plasticizers and pigment additives, and more.
Testing Principle
In this method, the test material consists of a blend of decomposed compost inoculum and inert materials like sea sand and vermiculite. By regulating the humidity, oxygen permeability, and temperature within the compost container, the sample under analysis in the reaction chamber undergoes biodegradation through microbial action. This biodegradation reaction occurs via respiration, wherein oxygen transforms into carbon dioxide, which is then expelled. The quantity of carbon dioxide released is measured using an absorption device containing soda lime and sodium talc, with the decomposition rate calculated through regular measurements.
