Cooling Temperature Control System (–120 to –70°C)

Process Thermostat and Cooling Temperature Control System performance matters most at extreme sub-zero ranges. QualiCool™ Series is a low-temperature circulating chiller designed to deliver stable, repeatable cooling for closed-loop temperature control in reactors, jacketed vessels, condensers, and external heat exchangers.

It circulates a thermal fluid through the user’s process loop and removes heat using a refrigeration system to maintain a setpoint from –120°C to –70°C, depending on load and fluid selection.

This system is built for labs and pilot-scale environments that need controlled low temperatures without large cryogenic infrastructure. It supports continuous operation, controlled ramping, and stable circulation to help maintain consistent process conditions during sensitive material studies, reaction development, and thermal characterization workflows.

Theory and Method

QualiCool™ Series operates as a closed-loop circulating refrigeration system:

  1. Thermal fluid circulation: A pump drives a selected heat-transfer fluid through the external process loop (reactor jacket/coil/heat exchanger).
  2. Heat absorption: The fluid absorbs heat from the user’s process and returns warmer to the unit.
  3. Refrigeration cooling: The chiller removes heat from the returning fluid using a refrigeration circuit and heat exchanger.
  4. Control loop: A temperature controller (commonly PID-based) regulates compressor/valves and circulation behavior to maintain the setpoint across changing loads.
