QM-50 Series Double Column Electromechanical Universal Testing Machines is designed to test both the tensile and compressive strength of various materials such as Rubber, Plastic, Paper, Textile, Metal, Wood, Tape, Electron, Package, Medical and Architecture. The machine comes with a large test space and long stroke. Multiple models of width can satisfy large specimen test requirement. The maximum test capacity can reach 50kN with high precision, low noise and maintenance-free of the servo drive system.
We developed the maintenance-free transmission mechanism to reduce machine maintenance problems, at the same time it provides a quiet test environment and high-precision test results. Also, the support precision jog wheel can be fine tuning machine movement, with precision positioning and accurate calibration to increase test accuracy. The high-speed signal feedback mechanism can reduce the chance of machine overload. With the external signal source connected, the machine control mode can be activated.
QM-50 Series is using special testing software which is used Windows 7/8/10 of a personal computer. It can be applied to tensile test, compression test, bending test and all kind of test. It also comes with all kind of metric units, real-time graphs and also provides complete analysis test data which finish test can do a variety of material analysis. The report configuration can be modified after the test.
Thanks to the multiple control systems, customers can use the optional monitor without connecting a computer (stand-alone) for a simple test. The machine can also connect with computer for more functions. The external signal function allows external signals to expand the operating modes. The load cell and extensometer of accessories also come with memory function, no need to do troublesome setting when type changed. Speed range variable from 0.0002 to 600mm/min which can meet most of the test standard.
The UTM is used to evaluate the tensile, compression, bend, and shear properties of many materials including vulcanized thermoset rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers.
Tensile properties are determined by using test pieces from the sample materials to prepare and test the specimen. These specimens can come in many shapes such as the shape of dumbbells, rings or straight pieces of uniform cross-sectional area. Measurements for tensile stress specimens that have to been pre-stressed gives out the tensile stresses elongation, tensile strength, yield point, and ultimate elongation. The cross-sectional area of a specimen provides the tensile stress, yield point, and tensile strength.
Test specimens shall be injection molded or cut from a flat sheet not less than 1.3 mm (0.05 in.) no more than 3.3 mm (0.13 in.) thick and of a size which will permit cutting a specimen by one of the standard methods. All specimens shall be cut so that the lengthwise portion of the specimen is parallel to the grain.
The Straight specimen is only to be prepared if it is not practical to cut either a dumbbell or a ring specimen, to determine the cross sectional area of a straight line specimen in the form of tubes, the mass, length and density of the specimen may be required. The Cross sectional area shall be calculated using A=M/DL.
Two types of cut ring specimens may be used. Unless otherwise specified, the Type 1 ring specimen shall be used.
Type 1 specimen is the preferred specimen and shall be used where sufficient material having a thickness of 7mm (0.28in) or less is available. The Type V specimen shall be used where only limited material having a thickness of 4 mm (0.16 in). The Type III specimen must be used for all materials with a thickness of greater than 7 mm (0.28 in.) but not more than 14 mm (0.55 in.).
The Type IV specimen shall be used for testing non-rigid plastics with a thickness of 4 mm (0.16 in.) or less. The Type III specimen must be used for all materials with a thickness greater than 7 mm (0.28 in.) but not more than 14 mm (0.55 in.).
Includes highly orthotropic laminates, dimensions shall conform to type I specimen in ASTM D0638
A groove shall be machined around this specimen at the center of the length, the groove shall consist of a straight section 57.2 mm (2.25 in.) in length with a radius of 76 mm (3 in.) at each end joining it to the outside diameter. Steel or brass plugs will fit inside the tube and having a length equal to the full jaw length plus 25 mm (1 in.) shall be placed in the ends of the specimens to prevent crushing.
Unless otherwise specified, the standard temperature for testing shall be 23 ± 2°C (73.4 ± 3.6°F). Specimens shall be conditioned for at least 3 hours when the temperature is 23°C (73.4°F). If the material is affected by moisture, maintain the relative humidity at 50 ± 5 % and condition specimens for at least 24 hours. (ASTM D412)
Condition the test specimens at 23 ± 2°C (73.4 ± 3.6°F) and 50 ± 5 % relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test. Reference pre-test conditioning, to settle disagreements, shall apply tolerances of ±1°C (1.8°F) and ±2 % relative humidity. Conduct the tests at 23 ± 2°C (73.4 ± 3.6°F) and 50 ± 5 % relative humidity, unless otherwise specified by contract or the relevant ASTM material specification. Reference testing conditions, to settle disagreements, shall apply tolerances of ±1°C (1.8°F) and ±2 % relative humidity. (ASTM D0638)
The specimen is to be placed in the grips of the testing machine, using care to adjust the specimen symmetrically to distribute tension uniformly over the cross section. Determination of the tensile set and set-after-break are all given and calculated after the test, the test result will be the median of three individual test measurement values.
Grip and Load Cell
Each test will require different test grips and accessories for the plastics, metal, biomedical, composite, elastomer, component, automotive, aerospace, textile and other applications industries.
