Tested Under Pressure: Team Qualitest at FABEX 2026

Trade show preparations are usually predictable. You verify booth dimensions, ship demonstration units, coordinate with distributors, and confirm meeting schedules with plant managers and quality assurance teams. You plan for delayed flights or missing freight.

You do not expect to be diverted mid-air because the airport you are flying into has just come under an aerial strike.

That was the reality for our team members, Nishtha and Ines, on their journey to FABEX Saudi Arabia 2026. What was meant to be a routine business trip to Riyadh turned into a 24-hour demonstration of grit, quick thinking, and an uncompromising commitment to our clients.

Airspace Disruption Over Riyadh

As their flights prepared to descend into Riyadh, regional airspace was abruptly shut down following an aerial attack by Houthi forces targeting the airport. Commercial air traffic was rerouted immediately.

Both Nishtha and Ines found their flights diverted to the western coast, touching down hundreds of kilometers off course at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

They were stranded on the other side of the country, opening morning at FABEX was only hours away, and between them was all the exhibition material: roll-up banners, brochures, and technical documentation needed for the stand.

Waiting in Jeddah for Riyadh's airspace and commercial schedules to normalize could have taken days. The easiest decision would have been to check into a hotel and wait for instructions. Instead, both team members immediately set out to find their own ways to the capital.

Two Routes, One Shared Goal

Navigating the disruption on the ground required rapid problem-solving, and their journeys unfolded along very different paths.

Nishtha was able to secure a domestic connection to Qassim Airport, positioning her significantly closer to central Saudi Arabia. Touching down in Qassim, she immediately arranged overland transit to drive the final leg into Riyadh.

Ines had no onward flight options available. Determined not to leave our booth empty, she embarked on an arduous overland journey: nearly 1,000 kilometers by road straight across the desert from Jeddah, spanning almost ten hours through the night.

Her perseverance was tested even further when her vehicle was involved in a minor traffic accident along the highway. Fortunately uninjured, Ines handled the emergency with total composure, resolved the situation, and continued her overnight journey with the marketing and technical materials intact.

At Our Core: A Culture of Mutual Support and Soft Strength

In the materials testing industry, operations often center on performance under stress. We engineer machines to evaluate whether steel beams, pipelines, and structural components hold up under real-world conditions.

People operate on that same principle. In an unpredictable world that often feels complex and turbulent, Qualitest has always operated on a simple foundation: we are a company of good people. At the core of our corporate culture is a shared goal and a common ambition: to support each other as teammates, to help one another grow, and to create a better future for our customers, our partners, and our global team.

That human-first culture is deeply shaped by the equal balance we foster across our organization. Women comprise roughly 50% of our global workforce, working alongside our male colleagues to bring a vital soft strength to our international operations. In an engineering sector that can easily become purely transactional, this balance ensures our work is guided by genuine compassion, attentive listening, and meticulous care for our clients.

When travel plans collapsed in Saudi Arabia, that exact culture was on full display. Nishtha and Ines did not brave diverted flights, road transfers, and highway accidents just to fulfill an itinerary. They did it out of mutual accountability to their team and a personal commitment not to let down the partners who were counting on them.

Delivering Results at FABEX 2026

Once the booth was open, the remainder of FABEX 2026 proved to be one of our most rewarding exhibitions to date.

Over the course of the week, our team engaged with quality directors, metallurgists, and plant engineers from across the Kingdom. Discussions centered on our latest technologies in hardness testing, universal testing machines, and material quality assurance for the fast-growing Saudi steel and fabrication sectors. The warmth and hospitality shown by our visitors made the journey more than worth it.

Both team members are now safely back home, and the energy from Riyadh continues to inspire our global organization.

Bright Days Ahead for the Kingdom and the GCC

Bright days lie ahead for Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region. Driven by resilience and a national commitment to quality and progress, the Kingdom has proven its determination to excel across modern manufacturing, infrastructure, and research.

From our regional office at the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Qualitest is proud to support this ongoing transformation. As good partners committed to a better future, we look forward to working hand in hand with the Saudi government, industrial leaders, universities, and academic institutions, equipping them with the advanced testing technologies needed to build a world-class future.
