Geosynthetic Clay Liner Permeameters
Geosynthetic Clay Liner Permeameters | ASTM D5887 Index Flux Testing for Bentonite Barriers
Geosynthetic clay liner permeameters measure how much water passes through a hydrated sodium bentonite barrier under a controlled pressure differential. GCL producers, containment laboratories, and construction quality assurance teams use the result to check permeability against a project specification. ASTM D5887 is the reference index flux method for this work. Qualitest North America offers two configurations in the QualiGTX™ CLP family.
Both units accept ø70 mm specimens, apply differential pressure up to 50 kPa, and time the collection interval automatically. They differ in specimen holder material and in how closely each one holds permeant temperature. That second point carries weight, since water viscosity shifts with temperature and moves the reported coefficient. The comparison below sets the two side by side.
