The QualiTC™ 15 offers outline fusion, overlay fusion, and picture-in-picture modes, letting the operator overlay a thermal reading onto the visible scene for faster fault location. A high-temperature alarm flashes and sounds when a reading crosses a set threshold, and high and low temperature tracking follows the hottest or coldest point automatically. The camera stores images and video on 8GB of built-in memory and transfers files to a PC through USB Type-C, where the included software supports real-time streaming and 3D thermal modeling.

The QualiTC™ 15 runs on a rechargeable 2600 mAh lithium battery rated for about four hours of continuous use. Theory and Method

Every surface above absolute zero emits infrared radiation in proportion to its temperature, and the QualiTC™ 15 captures this energy in the 8 to 14 micrometer long-wave infrared band using a 120×90 microbolometer array. Each detector element changes electrical resistance as it absorbs infrared radiation, and the onboard processor converts that resistance change into a temperature value for every pixel, then renders the result as a false-color thermal image.

A second, 720P visible light camera captures a standard photograph of the same scene at the moment of the thermal image. The processor corrects for parallax between the two camera positions and scales the visible image to align with the thermal image pixel for pixel. Outline fusion overlays visible-image edges onto the thermal image, overlay fusion blends the two images at an adjustable ratio, and picture-in-picture displays a thermal window inside the visible frame, giving the operator three ways to place a reading in context.

Selecting full-screen, center point, or regional measurement mode changes which pixels the processor samples for its displayed reading, while high and low temperature tracking continuously searches the frame for the extreme values. The 3D thermal analysis feature in the companion software reconstructs a spatial model from a series of captured images, letting an operator review temperature distribution across a surface rather than a single flat frame after the inspection is complete.
