Handheld Thermal Imager - QualiTC™ 20

Handheld Thermal Imager - QualiTC™ 20 is built for electricians, HVAC technicians, and building inspectors who need a bigger, clearer view during an inspection. The device pairs a 256×192 thermal sensor with a 720P visible light camera on a 3.5-inch display, the largest screen in the QualiTC handheld series. This combination speeds diagnosis on electrical panels, floor heating systems, plumbing, and power distribution equipment. A measurement range of -20°C to 550°C (-4°F to 1022°F) covers electrical and mechanical inspection tasks in a single device.

The QualiTC™ 20 offers outline fusion, overlay fusion, and picture-in-picture modes, letting the operator overlay a thermal reading onto the visible scene for faster fault location. A wide 83° by 55° visible light field of view captures more of the surrounding area for easier orientation. Distance compensation extends to 5 meters, keeping readings accurate at typical inspection distances. The camera stores images and video on 8GB of built-in memory, then transfers files to a PC through USB Type-C for review in the included software.

The QualiTC™ 20 runs on a built-in lithium battery rated for about four hours of continuous use. An operating range of -10°C to 60°C and a storage range of -40°C to 85°C suit most job-site and transport conditions. Theory and Method

Every surface above absolute zero emits infrared radiation in proportion to its temperature, and the QualiTC™ 20 captures this energy in the 8 to 14 micrometer long-wave infrared band using a 256×192 microbolometer array. Each detector element changes electrical resistance as it absorbs infrared radiation, and the onboard processor converts that resistance change into a temperature value for every pixel, then renders the result as a false-color thermal image on the 3.5-inch display.

A second, 720P visible light camera captures a standard photograph of the same scene at the moment of the thermal image. The processor corrects for parallax between the two camera positions and scales the visible image to align with the thermal image pixel for pixel. Outline fusion overlays visible-image edges onto the thermal image, overlay fusion blends the two images at an adjustable ratio, and picture-in-picture displays a thermal window inside the visible frame, giving the operator three ways to place a reading in context.

Distance compensation corrects the calculated temperature for signal loss as infrared energy travels through air, and the QualiTC™ 20 extends this correction to 5 meters. A NETD rating of 50 mK at 25°C means the sensor distinguishes temperature differences as small as 0.05°C, which lets the camera separate a genuinely hot component from normal background variation.
