Large Capacity Freeze Dryer – QualiFD™ L Series

A Freeze Dryer from the QualiFD™ L Series is a floor-standing Freeze Dryer Machine built for higher-throughput lab lyophilization when benchtop capacity is not enough. The series targets medicine, pharmaceuticals, biological research, chemistry, and food labs that need a larger freeze-drying area and stronger daily run capacity.

Caster wheels support moving the unit between work areas in shared lab environments. QualiFD™ L Series is an integrated, floor model designed to handle routine freeze-drying with an expandable drying area up to 0.27 m².

The cold trap and work surface use stainless steel to support cleaning and corrosion resistance in daily use. Product-contact materials are described as inert for GLP-oriented lab work. A large cold-trap opening and pre-freeze capability support many workflows without a separate low-temperature freezer. A touchscreen controller displays and records cold trap temperature, sample temperature, and vacuum curves for traceable runs.

Theory and Method

Freeze drying removes solvent from a frozen product using vacuum so ice can sublimate rather than melt. A typical cycle includes freezing, primary drying (sublimation under controlled pressure), then secondary drying to reduce bound moisture.

Vapor is captured on the cold trap, and cold-trap temperature plus chamber pressure affect capture efficiency and drying rate. Sample temperature monitoring helps you keep product below its formulation limits during primary drying. After drying, the chamber is vented back to atmospheric pressure before unloading and sealing.
