MFI Melt Flow Indexer – QualiFi™ 5000

QualiFi™ 5000 is a precision melt flow indexer designed for laboratories and quality control environments that require accurate, reproducible determination of melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) in thermoplastic resins. Measuring across a range of 0.1–100 g/10min (MFR) and 0.01–3000 cm³/10min (MVR) with a temperature control range of 50–450 °C, this melt flow index tester combines a 10.1-inch HD touch screen, automatic weight lifting, dual PID temperature control, and DMS data management software in a compact all-aluminum benchtop platform. For plastics testing laboratories, quality assurance departments, and research institutions across the world, the QualiFi™ 5000 delivers world-class melt flow index measurement performance backed by CE certification and CNAS interlaboratory proficiency verification.

The QualiFi™ 5000 is a full-featured automatic melt flow index tester built around the QualiFi™ Series platform is a combination of modern industrial design and advanced measurement technology. The QualiFi™ 5000 is the entry-level model in the QualiFi™ Series, distinguished by its compact all-aluminum benchtop form factor and fully automatic weight lifting mechanism that loads and unloads test weights without any manual handling by the operator.

The instrument measures both MFR (mass method) and MVR (volume method A and B) for a broad range of thermoplastic resins from engineering plastics with elevated melting temperatures such as polycarbonate (PC), nylon, and fluoroplastics, through commodity plastics including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), ABS resin, and polyoxymethylene (POM). The maximum measurable flow rate of 3000 cm³/10min enabled by the lever-operated die plug device extends the usable measurement range well beyond the capabilities of conventional melt flow index testers.

Core measurement components (oven, die, and piston) use low-thermal-expansion, corrosion-resistant metal alloys with dimensional tolerances and hardness values that fully satisfy ISO 1133 requirements. The all-aluminum body is produced using advanced surface treatment technology that provides strong resistance to salt spray, extending the instrument's service life in industrial and corrosive laboratory environments. The unique trapezoidal barrel structure, 15° body tilt, and rotating upper assembly minimize bench footprint while improving operator ergonomics for loading, observation, and cleaning operations.

The 10.1-inch HD full-color touch screen is positioned at the front face of the oven, an unconventional placement that puts all controls directly in the operator's line of sight during test setup and material loading. A variable-angle metal observation mirror with stainless steel fine-grinding surface and 15° free-angle adjustment allows clear, unobstructed viewing of the sample extrudate during the cutting phase without requiring the operator to lean or reposition.

Why VISION Extrusions Group Chose Our MFI Melt Flow Indexer

How does a global leader maintain flawless product consistency across high-volume production lines? For VISION Extrusions Group, the answer lies in rigorous material testing before manufacturing begins. Because even minor fluctuations in melt flow can lead to structural defects and expensive downtime, the group required a high-precision Melt Flow Indexer (MFI) that could reliably support their demanding quality standards. The Challenge: Balancing
