Gene Gun QualiGG™ Port is a handheld biolistic particle delivery system designed for direct, in situ gene transfer when speed, portability, and flexible targeting matter. It uses a regulated “cold” gas shock wave driven by helium or nitrogen to propel DNA-coated microcarriers into target tissue or cultured samples, helping reduce thermal effects compared with hot-gas approaches.

Working pressure is adjustable from 0.5–5 MPa, supporting controlled delivery across different sample types and thicknesses. The compact format is built for bench work, greenhouse trials, and animal room workflows where moving a larger gene transfer platform is impractical.

Theory and Method

A Gene Gun delivers genetic material using microcarrier bombardment. DNA (or other payloads) is coated onto fine metal particles (commonly gold or tungsten), then loaded into a consumable delivery path. The instrument releases a controlled gas pulse that accelerates the particles toward the target over a short distance, creating penetration sufficient for intracellular delivery. Key variables include gas type, pressure, target distance, particle size, and shot count, which are tuned to balance expression efficiency and tissue impact.
