Scrub Abrasion and Washability Tester

When testing the scrub resistance of wall paints and related products, operators must note the number of cycles required to remove a continuous thin line of paint film across the 12.7mm (1/2 in.) width of the shim. However, accurately judging this 12.7mm length can vary among operators due to different standards.

To ensure precise and efficient determination of the test endpoint, operators not only need to predict the scrub resistance cycles of the test samples but also accurately identify the length of the removed paint film. This task can be challenging during actual operations.

The QualiWAST™ II-IR Multifunction Scrub Abrasion and Washability Tester with Image Recognition features automatic identification and calculation of the length of the test sample being abraded to the substrate (exposed bottom). It can simultaneously monitor the wet abrasion scrub of samples from two channels without requiring on-site observation.

Once the exposed length of the test sample reaches the operator-set "threshold," the instrument automatically stops and records the current scrub times, enabling unattended operation. Additionally, operators can review actual pictures of the test panel after multiple scrubbings and export them to a USB drive for further analysis.
