Theory and Method

The syringe sliding resistance test evaluates the mechanical forces required to initiate and maintain piston movement under controlled conditions.

During testing, a syringe filled with a specified fluid (commonly water) is connected to a reference reservoir and mounted vertically in the test fixture.

TheQualiMed™-SSRT drives the piston at a constant linear speed, typically 100 mm/min, while a precision force sensor continuously records resistance throughout the piston stroke. The system captures three critical parameters:

  • Break-loose force – force required to initiate piston movement
  • Glide (mean) force – average force required during continuous travel
  • Maximum force – peak resistance encountered during operation

These values provide a quantitative assessment of syringe functionality, lubrication quality, and manufacturing consistency.
