Taber-type Rotary Abrader - Abrasion Tester QualiTA™ III
Taber-type Rotary Abrader - Abrasion Tester QualiTA™ III, available in A and B versions for various sample thicknesses, is designed to evaluate the abrasion resistance of various coatings, as well as materials like paper, plastic, textile fabric, and decorations.
Two abrasive rubber wheels are mounted on pivoting arms and pressed against the rotating test specimen under the specified test load. The eccentric alignment of the wheels' axes relative to the rotation axis generates crosswise abrasive wear in a ring-shaped zone (approximately 30 sq. cm). The mass loss of the coating due to abrasion after the specified number of cycles is measured.
The level of abrasion also depends on the applied load force (500g, 750g, or 1000g per arm), which exerts a pressure of 250g on the axis of the two arms.
