Accelerated Oxidation Stability Tester for Distillate Fuel Oil (4 or 6 Oxidation Cells)
The QualiDFO™ 2274 distillate fuel oxidation stability tester measures how well middle distillate fuels resist degradation under the accelerated oxidizing conditions of ASTM D2274. Refinery labs, fuel terminals, and inspection labs use it to estimate how diesel, gas oil, and No. 2 heating oil will hold up in storage. The instrument ages filtered fuel samples at 95 °C while pure oxygen bubbles through each oxidation cell for 16 hours. Operators then weigh the gums and sediment that form and report total insolubles in mg/100 mL.
Qualitest offers the QualiDFO™ 2274 in 4-cell and 6-cell configurations, so labs can match bath capacity to their daily sample load. A stainless steel water bath holds the test temperature at 95 °C ± 0.2 °C, and a circulation pump keeps the water moving for even heat transfer around every cell. Each oxygen line runs at an adjustable 3 L/h ± 0.3 L/h. A light-protective cover and a dedicated dark chamber keep the samples away from light during aging and cooling.
The test gives fuel producers and buyers a fast, comparative stability rating without waiting weeks for a low-temperature storage test. Refiners use the 16-hour result to judge blending decisions, verify stabilizer additive performance, and screen fuels intended for long-term reserve storage. The tester ships with oxidation cells, a filter device, membrane filters, and tubing, so a lab can start testing on arrival. A 220 V supply comes standard, and a 110 V version is available for North American laboratories on request.
