An Ultrasonic Bacterial Dispersion Counter helps standardize microbial turbidity by combining controlled ultrasonic dispersion with nephelometric turbidity measurement in one workflow.

QualiUBD™ is designed to break up bacterial clumps using programmed ultrasound cycles and then quantify sample turbidity with high resolution, supporting faster, more repeatable prep for microbiology and QC routines. Adjustable ultrasonic cycles, working time, and interval time let you tune dispersion strength to match different organisms and media types. The instrument uses a cuvette-based cell and supports multi-point calibration to improve day-to-day comparability.

Theory and Method

Ultrasonic dispersion uses high-frequency vibration to generate localized shear that helps separate clumped cells into a more uniform suspension. A more uniform suspension improves repeatability because turbidity depends on how particles scatter light through the sample. Nephelometric turbidity measurement evaluates scattered light intensity under controlled geometry, then reports a turbidity value based on calibration. QualiUBD™ combines both steps so you can disperse, measure, and record results using one consistent workflow.
