Automatic Air Permeability Tester - QualiPermatest™ Series
QualiPermatest™ automatic air permeability tester measures how readily air passes through fabrics, nonwovens, foams, paper, and filter media under a controlled pressure differential. Qualitest supplies the series to textile mills, PPE manufacturers, filtration producers, and independent test laboratories across North America. Two configurations cover different lab workflows: QualiPermatest™ I runs from an onboard PLC and touch screen, while QualiPermatest™ II adds PC control with dedicated operating software. Both complete a measurement in 10 to 15 seconds.
A pneumatic clamping arm seals the specimen against the selected test head, then the vacuum system draws air through the sample until the target pressure difference stabilizes. The instrument recognizes the installed test head automatically and prompts a nozzle change when flow falls outside the fitted orifice's working range. Results appear on the touch screen in any of seven measurement units, with maximum, minimum, and mean values calculated across a test series. An integrated thermal printer produces a hard copy for the batch record.
Test areas of 5, 20, 50, and 100 cm², plus Ø50 mm and Ø70 mm heads, let one machine cover apparel fabrics, airbag textiles, geotextiles, and coarse filter mats. The permeability range spans 0.1 to 12,000 mm/s with measurement error held to ±2%. Ten interchangeable nozzles, from 0.8 mm to 16 mm bore, keep the differential pressure across the orifice inside its accurate working band. An RS232C port moves results to a PC or LIMS without manual transcription.
