Black Test Corner - QualiHSA™ BTC
Black Test Corner QualiHSA™ BTC reproduces the matte black plywood enclosure that IEC 60335-1 specifies for appliance temperature rise testing. Laboratories place the appliance inside the corner, operate it under normal or fault conditions, and record how far the surrounding surfaces heat up. Fine-wire K-type thermocouples bonded to blackened brass discs sit flush with each panel and feed a numbered connector bank. Test engineers gain a repeatable worst-case installation environment for safety evaluation.
Three standard sizes cover most appliance categories: 600 × 600 × 800 mm, 800 × 800 × 1000 mm, and 1000 × 1000 × 1000 mm. Each unit uses plywood panels around 20 mm thick, finished in matte black on the test face and gray-faced board at the rear. Measuring points follow a 100 mm grid set 100 mm back from the panel edges, supplied in 20, 32, or 48 point layouts. Four casters let a single technician reposition the corner between test bays.
Appliance manufacturers, in-house safety labs, and third-party certification houses use the QualiHSA™ BTC to qualify products against heating and abnormal operation requirements. The fixture stays passive, so it needs no electrical supply and no service beyond periodic thermocouple checks. Panel sizes, point counts, and grid spacing can be built around a specific product family. Design teams also run the corner during development, well before a formal certification submission.
