Lever-Operated Geotextile Thickness Gauge – QualiGTX™ TG L
Lever Type Nominal Thickness Gauge for Geotextiles and Geomembranes
The QualiGTX™ TG L lever-operated geotextile thickness gauge measures the thickness of geotextiles and geomembranes at three specified pressures: 2 kPa, 20 kPa, and 200 kPa. Manufacturers, testing laboratories, and project inspectors use it to verify nominal thickness against product data sheets and contract specifications. A lever arm multiplies the force of a compact weight set, so the frame delivers high contact pressures without a bulky stack of dead weights. The result is a stable, bench-mounted instrument that fits comfortably in a geosynthetics QC laboratory.
Each measurement uses a 25 cm² presser foot, the contact area that ISO 9863 defines for geosynthetics of uniform thickness. The gauge ships with four interchangeable presser feet, and the operator fits one foot at a time on the single test station. Tests therefore run sequentially, one specimen and one pressure step at a time. A 0 to 12 mm dial indicator with 0.01 mm resolution captures the thickness reading directly, with no electronics or power supply required.
The simple mechanical design keeps operation and maintenance straightforward for technicians at any experience level. Few moving parts mean fewer calibration issues and long service life. The frame accepts specimens of woven fabrics, nonwovens, and smooth barrier sheets alike. Qualitest supplies the TG L for incoming material inspection, production control, and third-party certification work across North America.
