Manual Geotextile Cone Drop Tester - QualiGTX™ CDT M

Manual Geotextile Cone Drop Tester determines how far a falling steel cone penetrates geotextiles and related geosynthetic products. Laboratories report the result as the diameter of the perforation the cone opens, a figure that ranks one fabric against another on damage resistance. The QualiGTX™ CDT M delivers that measurement from a compact, hand-operated frame.

Operation stays entirely mechanical. The technician clamps the specimen in the ring, raises the cone to the latch position, and releases it onto the fabric center. Nothing about the sequence depends on software, sensors, or a power supply, so the apparatus starts working the moment it is unpacked and leveled. Laboratories running moderate sample volumes get the full drop cone geometry at a lower acquisition cost than an automated station.

The QualiGTX™ CDT M carries the standard test hardware: a 45° stainless steel cone with a total mass of 1000 g, a 150 mm clear clamping ring, and a graduated measuring cone for reading the hole. The frame occupies a footprint of 600 by 300 mm and weighs 45 kg, which suits crowded materials labs, university teaching labs, and site laboratories where floor space is limited. Qualitest also supplies an automated version of this test for high-throughput production QC.
