Portable Ferrograph Analyzer QualiFG™ Port is a compact field-ready Ferrograph designed for fast evaluation of ferromagnetic wear debris in lubricating oil. It combines electromagnetic particle adsorption with image-recognition technology, allowing users to capture wear-particle images, classify wear type, and generate maintenance-focused reports directly from the instrument workflow.

Theory and Method

A Ferrograph screening system of this type works by capturing ferromagnetic wear particles from an oil sample and then using optical imaging plus software-based recognition to evaluate particle characteristics. In QualiFG™ Port, electromagnetic adsorption collects ferromagnetic particles onto the inner surface of the detection cell, after which the optical system records the deposited debris for analysis.

The captured particle images are processed through image-recognition methods to estimate size, morphology, and wear type. The QualiFG™ Port is a neural-network-based analysis for real-time monitoring of particle dimensions and morphology, and image recognition and automated report generation built around the same principle.
