Standard Pure Water System - QualiPWS™ S

QualiPWS™ S is a type 2 laboratory water purification system that draws directly from a tap water supply and produces both RO water and deionized water at up to 60 liters per hour. Qualitest North America supplies the Standard Pure Water System to analytical, clinical, pharmaceutical, and academic laboratories that need a dependable bulk supply of reagent grade water. Three production rates cover 20, 40, and 60 L/h. A 60-liter storage tank buffers demand peaks.

Deionized water from the system reaches a resistivity above 17.5 MΩ·cm at 25 °C, comfortably above the ASTM D1193 Type II threshold. That quality suits reagent preparation, buffer makeup, and glassware rinsing. The same host also dispenses first-pass RO water for autoclaves, washers, and environmental chambers. One unit therefore serves two water grades from a single tap connection, dispensing at up to 2 liters per minute in general or quantitative mode.

A 5-inch capacitive touchscreen runs the system and shows cartridge life, tank level, RO rejection rate, and live water quality on one screen. Ethernet and WiFi connect the unit to a cloud platform for remote monitoring, alarm notification, and record export. Operating data stays on the host for up to five years, and PDF reports support traceability reviews. Multi-user accounts assign dispensing volumes and consumable costs to individual departments or projects.

Standard Pure Water System - QualiPWS™ S Applications

The QualiPWS™ S covers the general-purpose water demand of a working laboratory, from bulk instrument feed to final rinse water. Both the RO and deionized outlets serve distinct roles across the following environments.

Theory and Method

Reverse osmosis drives the first purification stage. A pump raises feed water pressure above the osmotic pressure of the dissolved salts, forcing water molecules through a semipermeable membrane while ions, organics, and particles flush to drain. The membrane rejects 98 to 99 percent of inorganic ions and more than 99 percent of organics above 300 Dalton. Upstream cartridges protect it: a 5 μm polypropylene depth filter removes particles, and a catalytic carbon fiber block strips free chlorine that would oxidize the membrane.

Ion exchange completes the job. RO permeate passes through cartridges holding cation resin in the hydrogen form and anion resin in the hydroxide form. Residual cations swap for H⁺, residual anions swap for OH⁻, and the released ions recombine into water rather than adding to the dissolved load. Removing charge carriers raises electrical resistivity, so the reading climbs toward the 18.2 MΩ·cm theoretical limit of pure water at 25 °C. The QualiPWS™ S holds output above 17.5 MΩ·cm.

Conductivity cells with a 0.01 cm⁻¹ electrode constant measure the water at each stage, and a temperature sensor resolving 0.1 °C lets the controller compensate readings to 25 °C. Resistivity can also display as a non-temperature-compensated value, which USP conductivity testing calls for. On the bacteria and particle configuration, a terminal microfilter with 0.45 μm and 0.2 μm PES layers sits at the outlet and retains organisms and particulates released during storage. Laboratories specify that build when downstream work is sensitive to microbial load.
