Textile and Fabrics Air Permeability Tester – Permatest is widely used to assess the air resistance of fabrics, including woven, knitted, non-woven materials, and medical masks. It measures the pressure difference needed to move air through the material at a consistent airflow speed, determining its air permeability performance. The Air Permeability Tester complies with standards such as ASTM D737 and ISO 9237.
The instrument features an automatic holder for easy placement of test specimens. Simply press the holder to begin testing. The tester uses a vacuum pump to draw air through an interchangeable test head with a circular opening. It automatically maintains the pre-set test pressure, displaying the air permeability results digitally on a touch panel within seconds. If a different test nozzle is required, the system prompts a change. Once the test is complete, releasing the holder shuts off the vacuum pump.
