By automatically measuring and recording dart weight, the DX8485-A eliminates the need for manual measurement and/or weighing of darts and data entry – reducing errors and expediting the testing process for both total energy calculations and staircase dart drop computations.

An integrated velocity meter measures dart speed, providing operators the option of conducting total energy testing in addition to traditional pass/fail or staircase dart drop tests. The total energy test delivers an actual impact resistance value with a single dart drop – a notable improvement compared to 5-10 drops for the pass/fail test or up to 25 drops for the staircase test. This innovation enhances efficiency and precision in testing procedures.

Total Energy Dart Drop Tester DX-8585-A Key Features:

Meets both ASTM D-4272 “Total Energy Impact of Plastic Films by Dart Drop” and D-1709 “Impact Resistance of Plastic Film by the Free-Falling Dart Method”.

  • Accommodates heavier loads for Brittleness Testing of plastic sheet, increasing test capacity to 4500 grams.
  • New Integral Tube-Mounted Speed Sensor Assembly eliminates vibration effects from heavier dart loads.
  • Innovative pneumatic, control-integrated, dash-pot dart capture bucket handles dart loads up to 5000 grams. Safety interlocks prevent the dart from being released unless the capture bucket is in place and ready to accept the dropped dart.
  • Safety features and guards enhance safe operation during sample loading and dart guiding during testing.
  • Added a Load Cell to our Updated Pneumatic Dart Release system to not only enter the (5) standard missile weights used with traditional Total Energy Dart Drop testing but also allows keypad-entered selection of missile weights from 1500 gr. to 4500 gr. as required when testing plastic sheet up to 25 mils thickness.
