Test Principle

The AUTO QT-Q401-WVTR water vapor transmission rate tester, utilizing the infrared method principle, features a setup where a pre-treated sample is secured in the center of the test chamber. The chamber is divided into a high-humidity side and a low-humidity side. Humidified nitrogen flows on one side of the film, and dry nitrogen (carrier gas) flows on the other side at a fixed rate.
In the presence of a humidity gradient, water vapor permeates from the high-humidity side to the low-humidity side. The water vapor passing through the sample is conveyed to the infrared sensor by the flowing dry nitrogen.
The electrical signal output by the sensor provides the water vapor transmission rate (along with other parameters) of the sample. This device serves as an excellent Water Vapor Permeability Tester and WVTR Transmission Rate Analyzer.
