How the ONH-3500 Works:
- Sample Preparation and Cleaning:
A graphite crucible is placed into the analyzer's holder, and the impulse furnace is sealed using a pneumatic system. A 1g sample is weighed and loaded into the system after an initial outgassing phase cleanses the furnace of residual oxygen and nitrogen. - High-Temperature Reaction:
The sample is released into the cleaned crucible, where oxygen reacts with the crucible's carbon at temperatures around 2200°C, forming CO. Simultaneously, nitrogen in the sample converts to elemental N₂ gas. - Gas Analysis:
- Oxygen Measurement: The CO is converted into CO₂ in the oxidation furnace by copper oxide. This CO₂ concentration is then analyzed using infrared absorption detection, calculating the oxygen content.
- Nitrogen Measurement: Nitrogen is detected through thermal conductivity detection, ensuring precise analysis.
The process is powered by helium carrier gas, which ensures optimal accuracy and consistency in results.
